Benjamin's First Wedding

This past weekend, Jennifer's brother T.J., married his sweetheart, Emily, up in Belton, Tx. Benjamin made the trip to his aunt and uncle's wedding and he was amazing (as was the wedding).

Friday night at the rehearsal dinner, he got to meet just about everyone from the extended family that hadn't yet had the pleasure of his acquaintance. Then on Saturday he got to meet all of Jennifer's family's friends and I think the general consensus was that he is adorable and an amazingly well behaved baby.

It was an outdoor wedding so I was worried about him getting cold, because I know I was a bit chilly, but he didn't seem to have a problem with it. He slept through the entire ceremony and well into the night. The wedding started at 4pm and we didn't leave the party until right at 11pm. Benjamin only awoke to be fed twice and changed once. The rest of the time he rested peacefully in his stroller.

He was a bit of a hellion on Sunday on the drive home and into the evening, but for as good as he was on Friday and Saturday he earned the right to be a bit fussy on Sunday.

I didn't take any pictures myself, but I know there were dozens taken by family, friends, and the wedding photographer so if any of you readers have any pictures of him then go ahead and shoot'em over to me and I'll get'em posted for everyone.

Week 4 Update

The little guy is doing just fine, which is more than I can say for his father after Saturday's meltdown against Baylor.

His sleeping schedule is stabilizing and he continues to eat like a horse.

This weekend he made his first trip up to Dallas to see some friends and family and it was discovered that he does like riding in the car, but not for 4 hours.

His hair is starting to fill out a bit and he is just barely starting to smile. It's maybe a 1/5 smile but you can tell he's trying because of the way his eyes light up.

It is getting a bit chillier outside now so we're getting to bundle him up in pants and jackets, which are really funny looking. Today he got to wear some cargo pants and I pondered aloud, "What does a baby need pockets for?" That's some deep stuff there.

Overall, we're just the luckiest people in the world. He is healthy, Jennifer is healthy, and he has been a really good baby. Every day I thank my lucky stars.

Check out album #3 for some new photos.

More Photos Up

We've got a few more pictures up in album #3.

Benjamin went to the pediatrician on Tuesday and everything went well. Jennifer thinks that he is lactose intolerant so we had to change his food. I think he's just a baby and they spit up a little bit and have a bit of gas. We'll see how this plays out ;)

Other than that he's doing great. He's sleeping in 3 hour shifts and is eating a ton. He is so going to be a defensive end.

New Photos Are Up

There are some new photos up if you click on the album #3 link in the right-hand toolbar.

I've got some of the basics down with the camcorder, but I haven't figured out how to transfer it to the computer yet or how I'm going to upload them to the blog (I'm afraid the files are going to be really big). That's my project for this week.

2-for-2

Yesterday afternoon after our Fightin' Texas Aggies beat CU (WHOOP!), Benjamin had some special visitors come in to spend some time with him.

Mr. Jones and Cindy came down to see the little guy and my brother Sean did as well. We all loaded up and went to Pappasito's for dinner. After such a successful evening on Friday night at Wing'N'More I was a little more confident that we would get through dinner without any problems, but I was still a little concerned because Pappasito's is a much busier, crowded establishment and I didn't know how BK would handle that.

He handled it like a champ. Not a peep the entire meal, even though we were there longer than we thought we would be because our call-ahead table wasn't ready when we arrived. So now we are 2-for-2 taking him out to eat at my favorite restaurants. Texas Road House is next on the list ;)

I also got an early birthday gift - A Camcorder! Now I'll be able to work on getting some real footage of BK up here for you guys. I'm still working my way through the instruction booklet but I'm really excited about it and will start tinkering with it today once the battery finishes charging.

Growing up, we had family videos for everything and Sean and I would sit and watch them over and over again for hours on end. We can all only hope that my hand is more steady than my father's. Otherwise, get yourself a bottle of dramamine.

Good news - I checked the tripod for my regular camera and it fits the the camcorder as well so that should help a good bit!

That's it for now. I'll try to get some more photos up later this afternoon.

Happy Halloween

Today was well on it's way of being one of the most miserable days I've had in a long, long, long time.

Long story short.....I had 4 warranty calls at the same house and they all needed to be completed and signed off today.....and it didn't look like things were going to come together.

Then my phone battery died.....AS I WAS TRYING TO CALL JENNIFER BECAUSE MY KEYS WERE LOCKED IN MY TRUCK.

A couple hours later I got ahold of Jennifer from another line, got 3 of the 4 warranty calls signed off, and Jennifer offered to take me to Wing's N More (which has a location in the Woodlands). It was going to be our first public attempt with Benjamin and I was nervous that we would be "those parents". You know, the ones who show up to eat and the baby just cries and cries and annoys everyone else.

I'm pleased to announce that BK was a saint, I got to enjoy my favorite restaurant, and I got to spend time with Jennifer. The funniest part was when the hostess brought our two menus and a kids menu with some crayons. The kid can't even lift his head up or hold anything in his hand, let alone handle a cheeseburger and a green Crayola.

A bad day gone good.

The other good news is that I closed an $865,000 house on Thursday and that is going to make for a nice bonus. And the homeowner is happy. A nice, well earned bonus.

Happy Halloween.
