Doctor Day

Today we had our first official appointment with Dr. Audrey Winer. She works in a TCPA practice about fifteen minutes from our house. Let's just say it was a match made in Heaven. I adored both her and her nurses!

First of all, the nurse was able to explain more details about the rash that citrus fruits leave on B. Apparently, there is a chemical in their skins that is the same chemical as that found in poison ivy. (Obviously it is much weaker, but there nonetheless.) Her son has the same sensitivity, so she was able to suggest some ways around the rash.

Next came the measurements. B is in the 95th percentile in height and 80th percentile in weight. Despite the advice of a previous physician, we are to switch B back to whole milk only. We were also told to be sure he gets FOUR servings of dairy per day. Uh-oh. He's probably only be given about three on average.

Per my request and concern, we set up an alternative vaccine schedule. Today B had his MMR and his first Hepatitis A shots. He pulled through like a champ. The nurse told me "he might surprise you," yet I retorted with, "he might surprise YOU!" She was right. He only cried briefly. I told her she is now on my short list of favorite people ever.

I'm off to put B down for the night, but let's just say that it's so nice to have finally found "The One"...Dr. Winer that is.
