Okay, first of all, the computer is having issues, so there won't be any photos today. Second, I am just going to report the noteworthy tales as I recall them...
First of all, B. I went into B's classroom to pick him up yesterday only to have his teacher pull me aside and give me a report. She was sort of laughing as she told me this. Apparently, she took all of the kids to the auditorium yesterday to "tell a story" to the class one by one. When it was B's turn, this was his "story:" "When I come out of my bedroom I am naked in my underwear, and my mama sees me!" Of course, laughter ensued in the room. All the kids. The teacher. Well, as the teacher shared this with me I turned bright red and begged her not to call CPS. I tried to convince her that we were as "normal" as it gets. More importantly, however, B has now figured out how to make his entire class erupt into laughter. Great.
Bekah had her six month appointment yesterday. She is about 18.5lbs and 26.5" long. (I think I remember this accurately...) Anyhow, she is following her growth chart perfectly except for her length which has jumped considerably. I tend to think that they just mismeasured her last time, but what do I know? She will start eating more solids now. NOT my favorite phase... Pictures of this to come...
She is now up on all fours rocking and trying to move. Lord, help us! Her development is exactly where it should be, thank goodness. I did tell the Dr. that sometimes when she sits in our laps she will throw herself backwards into us repeatedly. I guessed it was because she wanted to move around, but the Dr. told me to make sure we don't positively reinforce this behavior or we could have a mess on our hands. He said this normally happens at nine months...but she seems to be showing a lot of behaviors that usually don't surface until nine months. Most notably the attachment issues. She is getting more and more upset when she cannot see me and more and more upset when other people hold her. So, don't take it personally. And, yes, this is a temperament thing, not a "nurture" thing.
She is amazingly alert and attentive as was also noticed by the Dr. He asked if there was any A.D.D. in the family. Oh SH@#! He also told me that he asks each of his patients the following question per the obesity epidemic: "What would happen if you never gave your child a french fry?" I kind of wanted to laugh. I don't give B fries, and I am about the most uptight person about my children's diets EVER. I think we passed that final test! All in all, it went well.
