It's hard to be a baby.

No joke. The more I watch Baby B, the more I sympathize with his lot in life. Yes, it all sounds like peaches and cream: eat, sleep, play. But the truth is that his life right now is an unrelenting struggle. He has to find a way to communicate all of his needs, but his lack of success ends up in a cry. He has to face a world of new sensory experiences, and he has no one to answer his questions. He is at the mercy of people that do not and cannot understand his frustrations.

I watch his little brows furrow and his head cock when he is obviously struggling to learn something new. He will likely experience years (two?) of confusion before he connects the language, purpose, and utility of things. I have to admit, I'm glad I'm not a baby. It's hard to watch his struggle.
