Well, I thought things had gone well. B weighed in at 26lbs, 6oz (90% percentile - I'm going to have to stick to whole milk, no more half-assing with the 2%,) and he measured in at 32" (95% percentile.) I only allowed them to give him one shot...the shot that I believed gave him the bad reaction at six months. Remember? He was up all night and the next day we had to start on the nebulizer due to chest congestion. The vaccine was Prevnar, and it was supposed to protect AGAINST bacterial pneumonia. Last time they gave him the shot the doctor told me that what he was experiencing COULD NOT be a side effect of the vaccine. Oh no. My intuition was all wrong. Vaccines are always flawless...
Fast forward to 10pm tonight, after his final Prevnar dosage. He has been up every hour since he was put down to sleep. He awakens screaming and sweating. I haven't been home to check his temperature the past few times he's roused, but I'll be doing just that at 10:30pm when he is next scheduled to wake. If he has to go on nebulizer treatments tomorrow I'm going to be so insanely upset. These types of reactions are EXACTLY what should be reported to the FDA.
This is why I have to be so conscientious about taking charge of my child's medical treatment.
