Friday night we attempted a trip to Lupe Tortilla...only to find that (GASP!!!) they poured concrete OVER the sandbox! We were all devastated, especially B. We ended up leaving and heading to Pappasitos. B wasn't terribly thrilled to be stuck at the table, but we powered through. He did ask to use the potty twice. Of course, by the time we got into the stall he decided that it was not such an appealing plan. I guess public restrooms are going to be an issue. In an attempt to make Pappasitos as fantastic as Lupe USED to be, we ushered the balloon lady to our table to entertain us. She asked B what he wanted her to make for him. He told her that he wanted a car. He settled on a helicopter, and he was entranced in the surprisingly lengthy creation process. In the end, we were all very impressed...even though he started taking the pieces apart within ten minutes. We also indulged and shared my favorite dessert, the chocolate bread pudding. B, as he's such a mini-me, loved it as well.

Today we had a busy day. While I held an open house B and Ryan made B's mother's day gifts for Grammy and Grandmommy. Pictures will come later. Suffice it to say, Ryan never likes a project, and B did his best to torture Dada. (Again, the mini-me coming out in him.) We wrapped up the day with a nice dinner followed by a special treat: strawberry shortcake! While B dug out the strawberries, he also found great satisfaction in "exploring" the dessert as a whole.

As for the rest of our Mother's Day adventures, stay tuned! Ryan/B "bought" me some beautiful new coach lights for our house. I was truly surprised and elated. Tomorrow we will head downtown to see Thomas Saves The Day. We are bursting with excitement for the show! Chances are, we'll sleep in, hit up Freebirds, and have a merry old time. Stay tuned for pictures.
On the potty training front (and please know that this blog is the totality of our record-keeping so details of EVERYTHING are absolutely necessary,) B is doing well. We have used Pull-Ups for the past two days to limit the overall stress on all of us. In the evenings we have let B run naked or wear big-boy underwear just to intensify the practice. Wearing Pull-Ups B chooses to use the potty about 70% of the time. When he's naked or wearing underwear he's almost flawless. He has made astounding progress in terms of being able to identify his needs and vocalize them while allowing enough time to reach the potty successfully. The bottom line is that I believe he IS, in fact, potty trained. We just have to iron out a few details (such as #2 and public toilets.) I do want to continue putting him in underwear at least half of the time we're at home. I'm sure the next week will bring even more progress. I'm so proud of this little man!
