A Man Weekend

Last weekend Benjamin and I joined Grumpa on a trip up to his place in Lago Vista.  All things pointed to it being a nice getaway - a Man Weekend, if you will.

We got up there around 11am on Saturday and Benjamin unloaded his sleigh of toys as we got everything else hooked up and going.

I had a meeting that I needed to attend so I left them for a couple of hours but when I got back everyone looked pretty tired, so I know that whatever they did - it was done right.

We decided that on a Man Weekend we needed to squeeze in a little golf, so we rolled up to the course, grabbed a cart and got after it.

On the first hole, Benjamin might have out driven the rest of his group.  We didn't measure, but it was pretty close.

Seriously.

He was definitely the first to sink a putt.

There were deer EVERYWHERE

EVERYWHERE.

It was like that around every turn we came to on every single hole. And not one of them moved when we shot.  And not one of them got hit.  And they all got a good laugh out of our game.

There were some fundamental golf lessons given....

There may have been an instance when the 4 year old drove off with the kart on his own....

There might have also been some shenanigans pulled....

There might have even been a hole where no clubs were used....

But the weather was great and the views were gorgeous....

And we all felt like we shot pretty well.  At least that's what we're telling people.

So what is the best way to continue the Man Weekend in style?

Go eat as much meat as humanly possible....at the legendary Salt Lick.

And top that off with some ice cream!

After that I think we all must have blacked out because when we woke up on Sunday morning....

....I had cigar burns on my pants and Benjamin had some fresh ink.

It was a great weekend - one I hope is remembered by all for a long, long time.

  1. thanks to all. I'll remember it as well as all the other great times you, sean and now Benjamin have shared on our guy time. Every father should have the chance; to enjoy the time; and to be thankful that cart didn't get away! Just kidding, cart nor Benjamin was ever in harms way...the deer may have been but we did have a good laugh...I forgot about that golf bag falling off the cart...too funny!
