Updates...

We are a bit behind as life has a way of running away from us lately.  Lots of big news to report!  A few days ago, I got out the "Bob" books that I had purchased B for Hanukkah.  I took out the first reader, and B read it to me cover to cover without any help!  I was absolutely SHOCKED!  He did the same with book #2.  He insisted on continuing, and only needed help with the "sight words" for the next two books.  After dinner that evening, B insisted on reading an even more advanced Bob book to Ryan.  He did so well, and it was all on his own initiative.  This kid just LOVES TO LEARN!

In other academic news, B had a stellar report card, per usual.  We had his teacher conference yesterday, and Mrs. Jicha reiterated the same.  She said he was very social, bright, and well-behaved.  He has mastered all of the material and only needs to continue developing his writing skills.  Other mothers that spend more time observing the class have told me (completely unsolicited,) that he is the most "advanced" student in the class.  Frankly, I think being "normal" is a much easier way through life, so this actually concerns me.  In fact, it is making plans for next year very difficult as there are very few academic programs that are not redundant (yet affordable.) For example, the highly desirable and competitive neighborhood preschool uses B's current school's three-year-olds' curriculum as their four-year-old curriculum.  These, as Ryan would say, are "first world problems." : (
We have begun talking about responsibilities and chores.  We ordered B a chore chart wherein he now tracks his daily progress.  He was very eager to have chores and has self-selected the following: brush teeth x2, flush toilet, clear plate, clean up outdoor toys, feed dog, put clothes in hamper, dress, and pick up toys.

At the beginning of January B started Hebrew school on Thursday nights.  He is the youngest kid in his class, and the kids range from four to six-years-old.  He was very intimidated the first class, but now his teachers frequently comment about how well he participates and behaves. He is so cute in his little Kipah every week.  He also takes Tzadakah (charity offerings) with him weekly, a lovely tradition.  Here is a pictures from his first day...
This year they are learning the Hebrew alphabet and some holiday insights.

B has also been assigned to his neighborhood T-ball team.  I think practices will begin next week!
