Rosh Hashanah Preparations

So, we spent most of last week doing crafts and entertaining for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.  The first activity we did was a motor skills practice for Bekah.  I gave her a tub of foam apples, kitchen tongs, and a mini muffin tin.  There was no part of me that thought she would actually attempt to put the apples into the tin as I suggested. I was totally aghast when she did the entire activity in about three minutes.  That sneaky little monster...

Then, she clapped for her self and hollered, "Yay, Baby!"
We also enjoyed some sensory bins, since Bekah is so tactile...  This is a Rosh Hashanah sensory bin that includes items symbolic of a sweet new year.  Honey, apples, bees, a crown for G-d, a feather to represent His gift of Torah, etc.  In the picture, she is enjoying the smell and feel of a block of beeswax.
Benjamin created another sensory bin to represent the story of Creation.  He as equally "into" the bins as Bekah...
Then, we got out the BIG sensory bin and played dinosaurs...
Bekah wanted the sensation on her feet...
