Saturday of Atonement

Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, fell on Saturday this year.  Bad timing.  We did not handle it in the way I would want our children to model; however, we will improve next year.  I went to services on the Friday night while Ryan stayed with the kids.  The next day, when we all should have been in services (although the ages of the kids makes that difficult,) we did the following...

Ryan went to the Aggie game.  B watched some of the game.  Again, I don't know why my kids never wear pants...
Then, we broke the fast about two hours early at Shogun.  I was STARVING and needed some food.  It was a treat for me...you know, since I was alone with the kids on the highest holy day on the Jewish calendar.  I got to eat about fifty percent of my food before the kids started throwing things.
Then, I took the kids to our Jewish group's Yom Kippur service prior to the official break-the-fast.  At the end of the service, there was a Children' Light Parade.  Notice that despite there being a large number of kids of all ages, Bekah was the last one to follow the pack.

But five steps towards the other kids, she detoured and decided the blinds in the back of the room were more engaging...
Someday we'll be glad that she's not a follower.
